The Edmonton Elks and Calgary Stampeders meet Monday in CFL action at McMahon Stadium. Let’s preview this game and give out a pick and prediction.
Edmonton Elks Betting Preview
The Edmonton Elks look to build on back to back victories. Edmonton hasn’t won 3 straight games since early 2018. Taylor Cornelius is completing 58.6 percent of his passes for 1,295 yards, 4 touchdowns and 9 interceptions. Steven Dunbar Jr. and Kyran Moore have combined for 968 receiving yards and 5 touchdowns, while Dillon Mitchell has 26 receptions. The Edmonton Elks ground game is averaging 103.5 yards per contest, and Kevin Brown leads the way with 597 yards and 2 touchdowns. Defensively, Edmonton is allowing 25.5 points and 397.1 yards per game. Nyles Morgan leads the Edmonton Elks with 71 tackles, A.C. Leonard has 9 sacks and Loucheiz Purifoy has 3 interceptions.
Calgary Stampeders Betting Preview
The Calgary Stampeders need a win to snap a 3-game losing streak. The Stampeders are 1-4 SU at home this season. Jake Maier is completing 61.5 percent of his passes for 2,786 yards, 12 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. Reggie Begelton and Tre Odoms-Dukes have combined for 1,309 receiving yards and 4 touchdowns, while Marken Michel has 22 receptions. The Calgary Stampeders ground game is averaging 86.5 yards per contest, and Dedrick Mills leads the way with 586 yards and 3 touchdowns. Defensively, Calgary is allowing 26.7 points and 353.6 yards per game. Micah Awe leads the Calgary Stampeders with 77 tackles, Mike Rose has 7 sacks and Cameron Judge has 2 interceptions.
The Elks are 9-4 ATS in their last 13 road games and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The Stampeders are 7-18 ATS in their last 25 home games and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 Monday games. The under is 5-0 in Elks last 5 road games. The under is 3-1-1 in Stampeders last 5 games overall. The Elks are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 meetings in Calgary.
The Calgary Stampeders are getting the benefit of the doubt because they’re at home, and they’re supposed to be the better team on paper. However, I’m not laying chalk with a team that’s lost 3 straight overall and is 1-4 SU at home. The Stampeders are a below average team on both sides of the ball and haven’t covered numbers at home dating back to last season. The Elks have won back to back games and the defense has made progress in those wins. Yucky game, but give me the points.
