Steacy Easton reads their victim impact statement from the trial of Paul Sheppard. Sheppard was convicted during a 2021 jury trial in Wetaskiwin of three sex offences against Easton during the 1993-94 school year at Saint John’s School of Alberta, when Easton was in Grade 7. Saint John’s was a boy’s boarding school located along the North Saskatchewan River near Stony Plain that practiced corporal punishment and took students on intense hiking, snow shoeing and canoe trips. It opened in 1968 and closed in 2008.
