A trademark of K-Days, the Kiwanis slide has been an Edmonton staple since 1974. However, structural issues began plaguing the old bird in 2019 and it has been closed to riders ever since.
“This is certainly the end of an era,” said Arlindo Gomes, vice-president of business development for Explore Edmonton, adding the aim is to eventually replace the slide.
