An annual report on the food industry released by Dalhousie University, University of Guelph, University of British Columbia and University of Saskatchewan, said food costs overall are forecast to rise between 2.5 and 4.5 per cent next year, with the grocery bill for a typical family of four increasing by roughly $700.
