A cross-border human smuggling attempt near Akwesasne in October ended with a high-speed chase involving multiple U.S. Border Patrol vehicles and a crash in upstate New York, according to U.S. federal court records. The case is just one of dozens of human smuggling attempts uncovered since eight deaths in the St. Lawrence River last March.
