Ford and Trudeau spar over carbon tax

Ontario Premier Doug Ford is calling for an urgent meeting with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau over the federal carbon tax.

Ford joins a growing chorus of premiers fighting against the carbon tax but Trudeau defended the pricing, saying it was Ford’s decision to scrap the province’s previous cap and trade system that led to the implementation of the federal program.

Since the carbon tax increase on April 1, gas prices in Ontario have hit a record-high for the year. Trudeau says province’s should put forward their own concrete alternatives to the tax rather than playing politics over it. #shorts
