U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Friday reaffirmed that Israel has the right to defend itself but said it must protect civilians in its bombardment of Gaza. Blinken added that Hamas can no longer be responsible for governance in the Gaza Strip and ‘that Israel cannot reassume control and responsibility’ for it, either.
