At least 10 universities are expecting a combined operating deficit of $175 million this year with that number expected to grow to $273 million next year — and that’s before factoring in Ottawa’s new international study permit cap. ‘It’s going to exacerbate the difficult financial situation universities are in,’ Steve Orsini, president and CEO of the Council of Ontario Universities says.
