Alberta’s UCP government outlined a $4-million-a-year effort to make adoption more affordable with a new budget bill proposed Thursday in the legislature.
If passed, Bill 10, the Financial Statutes Amendment Act, will make Alberta the first jurisdiction in Canada to cover supplemental health benefits for children adopted domestically from government care or licensed adoption agencies.
