Sheriffs will join EPS on patrols in downtown Edmonton

A dozen Alberta sheriffs are being deployed to Edmonton’s Downtown in an effort to improve public safety, the city’s Public Safety and Community Response Task Force announced Wednesday.
The 15-week pilot partnership between the Alberta sheriffs and the Edmonton Police Service (EPS) will launch later this month to better deter and respond to crime and social disorder, said the group, headed by Alberta’s Public Safety and Emergency Services Minister Mike Ellis.
