Stanley Cup Gameday 3: Florida Panthers at Edmonton Oilers

The Florida Panthers will look to take a commanding series lead when they visit the Edmonton Oilers in Game 3 of the 2024 Stanley Cup Final at Rogers Place.

Florida shrugged off an early goal from Mattias Ekholm and dominated the Oilers, essentially from start to finish, in Game 2, posting a 4-1 victory to go up two games to none.

Niko Mikkola joined the rush and ripped home Anton Lundell’s drop pass to tie the score in the second period and Evan Rodrigues earned First Star honors for lighting the lamp twice in the third. Rodrigues’ second strike was the first power-play of the series. Aaron Ekblad notched his first of the postseason into an empty net to seal the deal.

Edmonton’s Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl and Zach Hyman were the only forwards to get shots on Sergei Bobrovsky. Edmonton’s defense corps, led by Brett Kulak’s five, accounted for 13 of the team’s 19 shots in the game.

Draisaitl’s high hit on Aleksander Barkov midway through the third sent Florida’s captain to the dressing room for the rest of the tilt. Barkov practiced yesterday and is expected to play tonight.
