Edmonton Pride Float: Back with a splash for its second year, this lovely, adults-only rainbow river float is a sort of nautical Pride Parade celebrating the LGBTQ2S+ community and its many allies. Local drag queens, music and mermaids are all part of the two-hour trip down the North Saskatchewan, starting at Terwillegar Park and ending at Sir Wilfred Laurier Park along one of the wonderfully lesser-developed stretches of Edmonton’s greatest natural asset. At the free After Float Party in the Park at Laurier at 3 p.m., Artasia and the Queen Indecisive will entertain amid lawn games, music and a by-donation BBQ fundraiser. Full details including what to bring and bus transportation at edmontonpridefloat.ca.

Ashwyn Singh: Toronto’s Ashwyn Singh is an Indian immigrant turned Canadian — which he’s affectionately named his Permanent Resident tour after. Singh’s routine touches on a variety of topics, including immigration, Indian culture, family dynamics and the perils of dating in Canada. Ashwyn sheds light on important topics while challenging stereotypes — and, yep, he’s really funny about it.

The Big Lebowski (1998): What condition is your condition in? If you don’t get the Kenny Rogers reference, it’s definitely time you celebrated the 25th anniversary of the Coen Brothers’ greatest film, the adventures of a stoner bowler suddenly pulled into an actually really dumb kidnapping conspiracy. An upside-down echo of Howard Hawks’ The Big Sleep, we find here John Goodman’s best-ever performance as the ridiculous Walter Sobchak. But what’s so charming about this film is how accidentally competent all its leading dolts are, especially Jeff Bridges as The Dude, and that funeral scene is one for the ages.
