U.S. announces 500 new sanctions on Russia 2 years after Ukraine invasion

The U.S. plans to impose more than 500 new sanctions on Russia in the largest single tranche of penalties since the start of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the White House says. This comes on the eve of the second anniversary of the invasion and in retaliation for the death of noted Kremlin critic Alexei Navalny last week.
