Video captures moment of gas explosion in Washington, D.C.

A day care center in Washington was evacuated on January 18, minutes before a gas leak caused an explosion at a store next door.

Emergency crews received reports of an outside gas leak on Thursday morning and began evacuating buildings on the street.

Video shared by DC Fire and EMS shows firefighters standing outside a convenience store when a huge explosion destroys the shop, sending debris flying across the street.

One person was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The 16 children who were safely evacuated from the day care centre were reunited with their parents a short time later. #shorts
