A 19-year-old man has turned himself into city police after two separate armed robberies at Edmonton convenience stores last week prompted police to issue a public plea to identify the suspect.

On Sept. 11, around 9:30 p.m., police said a man entered a convenience store near 118 Avenue and 34 Street, brandishing a knife at an employee and stealing cash from a register.

Two days later, at around 9:50 p.m., the same suspect was reportedly seen entering a convenience store in the area of 118 Avenue and 103 Street, again brandishing a knife at an employee and taking cash from the register.

Police said the man acted aggressively towards employees during both robberies. On Friday, police distributed surveillance camera footage and photos in an effort to identify the suspect.

On Monday, police said a man over the weekend came forward and turned himself in.

Gage Rader, 19, is facing two counts of robbery, possession of a dangerous weapon, carrying a concealed weapon and one count of breach of release condition stemming from charges from another alleged commercial robbery in Boyle, AB in May.
