{"id":13125,"date":"2023-11-01T23:24:01","date_gmt":"2023-11-01T23:24:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/edmontondailynews.com\/?p=13125"},"modified":"2023-11-01T23:24:01","modified_gmt":"2023-11-01T23:24:01","slug":"dog-attack-complaints-rose-18-in-2023-city-of-edmonton-edmonton","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/edmontondailynews.com\/dog-attack-complaints-rose-18-in-2023-city-of-edmonton-edmonton\/","title":{"rendered":"Dog attack complaints rose 18% in 2023: City of Edmonton &#8211; Edmonton"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t<span class=\"sr-only\">Descrease article font size<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t<span class=\"sr-only\">Increase article font size<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The number of dog attack complaints in Edmonton increased by 18 per cent in 2023 compared to the same time period in 2022, and they\u2019ve gone up 66 per cent since 2021.<\/p>\n<p>The City of Edmonton Animal Care and Control Centre (ACCC) said that between January to July, there were 596 complaints in 2023, 507 in 2022, up from 359 complaints in 2021.<\/p>\n<p>On Oct. 26, a provincial court judge fined a dog owner $10,000 because the dog had been involved in \u201cmultiple attacks in the community,\u201d the city said.
