Steven Dunbar Jr. has agreed to terms with the Houston Roughnecks of the United Football League following his release from the Edmonton Elks earlier this month.<\/p>\n
The 28-year-old played 13 games with the Elks in 2023 and made 39 receptions for 536 yards and five touchdowns. He finished the season on the six-game injured list and was\u00a0the third-highest-paid receiver in the league. His release came shortly before he was due an off-season roster bonus of $65,000.<\/p>\n
The six-foot-three, 202-pound target broke into the CFL as a member of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in 2021. He made 116 catches for 1,630 yards and 10 touchdowns over two seasons with the club and was named an East Division all-star in 2022.<\/p>\n
The native of New Orleans, La. went unselected in the 2018 NFL Draft out of the University of Houston. He was a member of the San Francisco 49ers, Denver Broncos, and Dallas Renegades of the XFL prior to coming to the CFL.<\/p>\n
Other players with CFL ties to sign in the UFL were former Ottawa Redblacks\u2019 offensive lineman Juwann Bushell-Beatty, former Hamilton Tiger-Cats strong-side linebacker Kameron Kelly, and Canadian offensive lineman Sage Doxtater, all of whom signed with the St. Louis Battlehawks.<\/p>\n
The UFL season will get underway on March 30, though the full schedule has yet to be announced.<\/p>\n
